Kusilvak Rising works to uplift the Kusilvak region by creating jobs, expanding local opportunities, and nurturing the strength of our communities.

We partner with funders and members to support workforce development, gardening and food security, housing, cultural revitalization, and climate-resilient projects that protect and celebrate Yup’ik traditions for generations to come.

Grantmaking to Create Jobs

Kusilvak Rising works to strengthen the 13 communities of the Kusilvak region by increasing economic opportunity, building local capacity, and supporting community-driven development. As a charitable nonprofit, we collaborate with tribes, municipalities, schools, and regional partners to advance initiatives that reflect local priorities. Our work includes supporting infrastructure and housing efforts, language and cultural revitalization, food security initiatives, gardening and land-based programs, arts and apprenticeship opportunities, and climate adaptation strategies. Through grantmaking partnerships and program development, we help communities access resources, build skills, and create pathways that support long-term resilience.
